Lumosity: The Return Experience

THE COMPANY

ROLE

Lumos Labs believes in helping people keep their brains challenged, by transforming science into engaging experiences. Their product, Lumosity, enables individuals to train core cognitive abilities through daily “workouts” consisting of 3-5 fun games built on the foundation of cognitive tasks.

CONTEXT & CHALLENGE

While working at Lumosity, I was part of a cross-functional team focused on the experience of users that return after a hiatus of 30+ days. These were individuals who had previously engaged with the product and decided to leave. Our team’s primary goal was to increase conversion, and our secondary goal was to improve retention in the return experience. In total, the experiences we launched led to a 10x increase in product conversion for resurrected users.

The following is a sample of features I designed with these goals in mind.


 
 

Resurrected User Experience

LUMOSITY PREMIUM TRIAL

Returning users that did not have a subscription were offered the ability to try Lumosity Premium for free. I owned the entire experience which included trial landing pages, strategies in surfacing the trial throughout the product, the trial subscription experience, and the post trial experience.

SUBSCRIBER WELCOME

Returning users who had a subscription were placed into various “Welcome Back” experiences. The goal was to entice returning users to explore features outside of the daily workout, remind them about features they loved, and to increase engagement with the overall product.
